1966 Chevrolet Corvette - bdhulderman

I bought this car in 1984 for $4500.00.  It was up on coil springs with a 2.2 first gear Muncie transmission and a '56 pontiac/olds straight axle 4.58 rearend that was tearing up the body.  I put in a '80 corvette rearend that came out of an automatic with 2.89 gears.  This brought the car down to where it belongs, but I had to remove the Muncie and put in a 5-speed road race Richmond transmission.  I was able to choose my gears 1-4 and 5th gear was just like the Muncie in 4th.  I got the best of both worlds, never getting out of 4th gear in the quarter and running at low RPM on the freeway in 5th.  I've since put about 40k into this car restoring it to my standards.  The engine I built in my garage with a Dart Iron Eagle SBC Block, Steel 4-Bolt Mains, Splayed Caps, 4.165" Bore, 9" Deck Height, .391" Raised Cam, and with a 4" Eagle 4340 forged steel crank, which gives me 436 CID.  I have Victor Jr. 2.08 intakes/1.6 exhausts 70cc Chamber Volume with Eagle ESP 4340 6" Forged Steel H-beam connecting rods and JE Forged Alluminum, 23o Flat Top Pistons, 1" Compression Height, JE Pro Seal Rings with O'Ring Rail Support, and JE Forged Wrist Pins.  This gives me a compression ratio of 11.6:1.  Intake: Performance Products' Super Hurricane Single Plane Intake (3000 - 7000 rpm) ported and port matched to heads.  Carb: Holley 850 4150 4-Barrel Race Carburetor, Progressive Mechanical Linkage, Mechanical Secondaries.  Cam Info: Comp Magnum Solid Flat Tappet Cam Intake/Exhaust Valve Lift 0.555, Duration 260o, Comp Solid Lifters w/ .012" Lobe Lubrication Hole, Comp "Hi-Tech" Steel Roller Tip Rockers - 7/16, 1.5 Ratio.  Oiling: Canton 6.5 quart Oil Pan, Melling 10555 High Volume Oil Pump & BBC Drive-Rod for Dart Block, Remote Oil Filtering System for Dart Block with 24" Heat Sink Oil Cooler.  Ignition: Malory Unilite Ignition w/tack drive and MSD 6AL Ignition System.  Cooling: Meziere 35 GPM Polished Electric Water Pump with 16" Be Cool puller fan and 2 12" pusher fans.  Exhaust: 1 7/8" Hooker Jet-Hot coated Headers with 4" Collector Side Pipes with Spiral Turbo Mufflers.
