I purchased my 71 just out of high school (in 1976). It was my first car and has always been modified in some fashion. About 3 years ago, I decided to replace the original 454 with the 572 crate motor. I already had a Richmond 6-speed, Fikse FM5 wheels, Michelin Pilot Sports, offset trailing arms, a composite leaf spring, slotted rotors, modified stainless steel calipers and some other mods. When I added the 572, we did some frame work, installed coil-overs and rack and pinion steering from Speed Direct, a Tru Track serpentine set-up and a new tank and fuel delivery system. Recently, I added ABS electric brakes, a Be-Cool radiator with electric fans, a RAM clutch and a Hogan/Fast fuel injection system pretty much like the one on the Foose Camaro. Next, I will turn to the interior. Although I have squeezed in some Sparco Milano seats, added a Duntov 4-spoke steering wheel, completely insulated it with Dynamat and replaced the carpet, the door panels and some other are parts that are original need a little attention. I don't know if others like the way I have modified it, but I do.
